With continued demand for measurement and accountability for diversity, WCM once again collaborated with Catalyst, the leading research and advisory organization on women in busines, to complete this important research. This will be the fourth in a series of reports measuring the representation of women in capital markets.
The 2008 study updates the quantitative analysis of the earlier studies and provides trending information on the progression of women in the capital markets and retail private client areas. Additionally, this year's study includes a qualitative section, profiling six female leaders in the industry. These women and their stories will provide inspiration and insight for other women in the capital markets industry.

The pipeline of women to senior management is very small: women make up 19% of professionals in investment dealers, but only 11% of managing directors

Women with mentors are more satisfied with their job and advancement opportunities

Women feel excluded from informal networks.

Background
Catalyst's 2001 report, entitled "Growing the Pipeline: Women in Canadian Investment Dealers," provided an important baseline to ensure that progress in the industry could easily be measured. In 2002, and 2005 WCM continued to benchmark the progress of women in the industry through new data analysis and study. In addition, WCM expanded on the research by including a qualitative component with a selection of company practices around advancing women in the financial services industry. The latest report will be released at the WCM-Catalyst Benchmarking Event on June 22, 2009
