RTBS Conference FAQ

Considering re-launching Your Capital Markets Career? We believe that experienced, high-calibre professional women who have opted out of the Canadian capital markets industry represent one of the most important untapped sources of talent. Does this sound like you or someone you know? WCM’s Return to Bay Street program offers the opportunity to update skills and network with peers - providing the support needed to transition back into the industry.

The program is made up of two components:

  • Annual Conference - designed to educate and support women considering a return to Bay Street
  • Annual Award - includes an educational grant and a four-month paid internship program

If you are an educated professional with a minimum of 5 years of work experience in either the capital markets or a related field, have taken a career break or left the capital markets industry for other opportunities and are motivated to return to the industry, this award and conference could be of value to you. Interested parties are invited to participate in either part of the program, or both.

The Return to Bay Street Award is designed to help professional women re-launch their careers in the Canadian capital markets after an extended period of absence from the industry. WCM is working with a broad group of Canadian financial institutions to offer this award and experienced internships to qualified women, in preparation to re-launch a full-time career in the Canadian capital markets industry.
The Return to Bay Street Conference is a great first step for those thinking of applying for the award. Join us for a day of education, motivation and networking that will provide the tools, confidence and connections to assist you in returning to the capital markets industry. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn from industry experts and business leaders as well as network with key industry sponsors of WCM’s Return to Bay Street program.

The successful candidate(s) will be granted:

Award Timelines:

We would like to thank our Gold Champion partner, Scotiabank, for hosting the 2014 Conference.
Applications due: Monday May 12, 2014
Winner(s) announced: July 2014
Internship(s) begin: September 2014

“The WCM RTBS Award has been an outstanding experience for me. My previous seniority and accomplishments were acknowledged and my potential was recognized. The internship provided me with the opportunity to meet senior executives across BMO Capital Markets and learn more about the organization, culture, current issues and priorities. And the four-month internship was an excellent way for me to transition back to the industry.

The well thought out structure of the internship, support from all involved across BMO Capital Markets and the industry and interesting assignments reaffirmed my decision to return to Capital Markets. Effective August 1st, I was appointed Director of Operations, Client Onboarding and look forward to a fulfilling role and long term career.”

-  Mary Ann Mendes, 2013 RTBS Award Recipient
